The Extreme Ride-In is perfect for my inquisitive one-year-old, who already loves to play with tool benches and building toys. After putting the toy together (NOTE: Assembly takes about 45 minutes, so if you want to play out of the box, you should prepare it beforehand), the toy was ready to play with and he began exploring it.The nice touches by the designers of this toy are evident throughout -- for example, a plastic screwdriver and plastic double-ended wrench have their own little mounting spots in the trunk, so that the toddler can keep his "tools" there for disassembling the vehicle when it needs to be "serviced." There are a number of parts that can unbolt from the vehicle for repairs, including the bumpers and most of the engine.
The car is perfectly sized and the steering is easy even for small hands. My son is still getting the knack of moving the car forward, but he can move it backwards easily by pushing off with his feet.
