We received this item as a birthday gift for our daughter. Thankfully, we kept it quiet before I had a chance to unpack it and start to assemble it. Even more thankfully, our daughter will never know she was the intended recipient of the most ridiculous tricycle ever built.In all my 38 years, I have NEVER EVER come across a sporting product designed for a child, or anyone, that was so ill conceived, utterly nonsensical, flamboyantly unpractical and frankly and finally simply dangerous.
Everything that is wrong with this tricycle comes down to one simple factor: WEIGHT!!
Forget about the styling. I'm not even going to comment. It speaks for itself. But simply put, this is the heaviest kid's product I have ever seen in my life. This dumb little trike weighs more than many 10 speed adult bikes! And a trike only has the one "gear" - the pedals! How is any kid, let alone, a 3 year girl supposed to push over 25 pounds of steel??!!! Many 3 year olds weigh only about 35 pounds!!!
On this trike, any slight incline or long hill would be impossible for most 3 year olds, and any downward sloped sidewalk or path would create such great inertia it would be difficult or impossible to stop!!! Now that's dangerous.
When the box arrived from Amazon, I figured something was wrong, but thought it must be excessive packing or something. But when I pulled the rear axle assembly out, my jaw dropped. Then I pulled out the frame and knew immediately this thing had been designed by someone so utterly out of touch with reality that I just started packing it back up again for return.
Do yourself a favor. Avoid this tricycle. Any adult who might pick this product out because of style points should just wait until the kid is a little older and buy them a nice old '57 Chevy and be done with it. Until then, realize that a kid has to be able to steer and pedal a tricycle without the benefit of an 8-cylinder engine.
Ridiculous.
